Alan began his career at Kimmel & Associates in 1997 and quickly began creating relationships in the General Construction Division in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He knows these markets exceptionally well and applies a diligent and principled effort to serve his clients and candidates, who rely on his knowledge and insight.
Alan earned a degree in accounting from Ben Franklin University, an affiliate of George Washington University.
Prior to beginning his career with Kimmel & Associates, he worked in the restaurant industry in both ownership and operations for 25 years in FL, MD, VA, SC, NC, TN, and MO. Alan has also had a number of partners in the real estate industry.
Due to Alan’s success in general construction, he was promoted to vice president for the General Construction Division in 2002 and, in 2012, was promoted to executive vice president. In 2014, Alan was inducted into the Kimmel Hall of Fame.
Aside from serving his clients, Alan is also involved in serving his community. He is on the Board of Directors for Asheville Community Theatre, the Board and Election Committee of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, and has previously held the position of co-president of Congregation Beth Israel.
Alan and his wife Suzy have been married for 18 years and have three children. Alan grew up in Miami Beach, FL, the oldest of three sons of a cotton sharecropper. In his free time he enjoys fishing, boating, international travel, and sword swallowing (part-time).
