We are located in Asheville North Carolina and are currently experiencing a ‘State of Emergency’ in the aftermath of hurricane Helene. We are fully operational at this time but many of our consultants have very limited connectivity, so there may be a delay in our response time. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working diligently to find alternate solutions. If it is urgent please contact our main office at [email protected] or 828-251-9900. Thank you for your patience as we work to get through this challenging time.

Josh Calloway

Chief Technology Officer

Josh began his career with Kimmel & Associates in 1999 as an IT Technician.

First promoted to System Administrator and later MIS Director, he was named Chief Technology Officer of both Kimmel & Associates and our sister company, ConstructionJobs.com, in 2014.

Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UNC Asheville. While specializing in programming and development, he has grown his skills to encompass a wide range of IT skills including network and infrastructure management, security, and environment virtualization.

We sat down with Josh and asked him the following:

  • What do you like most about working at Kimmel & Associates?
The challenges change from day to day and the solutions are rarely the same.
  • What is one thing you learned early in your career that has made you successful?
Sometimes the easiest way is to just do the hardest work.
  • What is your greatest strength in your role?
    Perseverance.
  • Describe the most rewarding experience of your career.
I once wrote a job board in 4 months that we then proceeded to use for 7 years. It felt pretty good to know that I could accomplish something like that to provide a product that people made a living selling.
  • Do you have a favorite quote?
“You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man.” - Jeffrey Lebowski (The Big Lebowski). It’s an accurate description of most of my days.
  • Personal interests?
Science fiction, cryptocurrencies, and Panthers football. I enjoy most sports. My favorite restaurant is Miyako House in downtown Asheville, or Chapala Express in Weaverville. I like to visit the Outer Banks. My favorite hike that I’ve done recently is probably Koko Crater Tramway on Oahu.
