Sam began his career with Kimmel & Associates in 2023 as an Associate in the Heavy Civil Division.

Prior to joining Kimmel & Associates, Sam worked for ten years in roles of increasing responsibility in the maritime and offshore industries, culminating as a Chief Officer on Fiber-Optic Cable Layers and a variety of other ocean-going vessels, from container ships to passenger ferries.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Operations from the State University of New York Maritime College. He also studied Outdoor Wilderness Education at Brevard College and earned his North Carolina Real Estate Broker’s License. Sam enjoys taking on small projects with his Handy Man business and spending time in the wood shop.

Outside of the office, Sam enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and exploring the mountains and waterfalls of Western North Carolina.

We sat down with Sam and asked him the following:

• What do you like most about working at Kimmel & Associates?
  The friendly and familial atmosphere is evident beyond any other work environment I have encountered. I have found the atmosphere to be warm, friendly, and very inviting for visitors and newer staff. I enjoy the unique culture here, from the interactions between people to the charming character of the old building we call our office. I feel inspired each time I come in the door.
• What is one thing you learned early in your career that has made you successful?
  Not to be too cliché, but diligence and hard work really do pay off and produce results. The rest is yet to be seen.
• What is your greatest strength in your role?
  While I am still green, I have always been committed to finding optimization. Anything short of that will not sit well with me. I strive for efficiency to design the best outcome possible.
• What can clients and candidates expect from you?
  A sincere, caring approach and determined work ethic that will outpace the competition and the less attuned.
• What makes you different from other recruiters in your industry?
  I care about the entire process of recruiting and want the absolute best outcome for everyone – as if we had all been friends all along.
