About the Company:
Our client is a privately owned heavy civil general engineering contractor specializing in wastewater treatment plants and underground wet utilities. Headquartered in Riverside County, they have multiple offices throughout the state. With a proven record of outstanding performance on diverse projects for over 100 years, they have offices in both Southern and Northern California. This position is for the Los Angeles Metro Area, supporting large-scale infrastructure projects with the primary focus around wastewater treatment plants construction and rehabilitation, in both private and public sectors.
About the Position:
Our client is actively seeking a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager specializing in heavy civil construction in the water/wastewater infrastructure field (any background with the mechanical aspects of WWTP’s is preferred, but not required). This position is for the Los Angeles Metro Area, leading and supporting several other Project Managers in large-scale wastewater treatment plants construction and rehabilitation, for a highly distinguished client. This role involves overseeing both administrative and technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring effective job site management. Prior experience working for a contractor around WWTP’s is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Provide overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of the project scope.
- Safety Management: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on all job sites.
- Stakeholder Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, and inspectors to foster long-term client partnerships.
- Financial Management: Oversee financial aspects of contracts, including progress billing, expenses, and job costing.
- Change Orders: Prepare and submit change order quotations to clients.
- Contract Compliance: Ensure adherence to contract terms and maintain quality control standards.
- Reporting: Generate accurate construction reports for projects.
- Procurement: Draft subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience: 7–10 years in heavy civil construction, with specific experience in heavy and highway construction projects. (particularly with wastewater treatment plants).
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy civil construction practices, including pipelines, plants, concrete channels, reservoirs, bridges, highways, and transit systems.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in interpreting contract plans, specifications, and documents.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, capable of independent operation, detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD, Excel, Word, HCSS HeavyBid, Outlook, Adobe, Topcon 3-D Office, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam is preferred; ability to learn new software quickly is essential.
