About the Position:

As the Fleet Manager & Marine Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of the fleet. You will oversee the repair, maintenance, and service of marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, and associated machinery. You will work closely with the team to ensure all vessels are properly maintained in a cost-effective and safe manner to meet client demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute repairs and routine maintenance tasks on marine diesel engines, vessel electronics, machinery/cranes, and structure.
  • Develop maintenance and service schedules, documenting all work completed in Planned Maintenance System (MTC Pro).
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair work on marine engine control systems, wiring, and electronics.
  • Inspect and service marine propulsion systems including transmissions, propellers, shafts, and steering mechanisms.
  • Install, enhance, and retrofit marine diesel engines and equipment as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct sea trials and testing to validate functionality of repaired or upgraded systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Provide guidance to team members and boat operators on maintenance protocols and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a master-level marine diesel mechanic, with specialization in diesel engines and generators (Cat, Cummins, John Deere, etc.).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in marine diesel engines.
  • Thorough knowledge of marine propulsion systems, including diesel engines, transmissions, propellers, and control systems.
  • Ability to operate in confined spaces and under challenging weather conditions typical in marine environments.
  • Certification or formal training in marine diesel mechanics from a reputable institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, EPA) in marine environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in diesel/mechanical/hydraulic/electrical applications.
  • High School Diploma, with additional management coursework.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, SharePoint).
