About the Position
The company is seeking a Systems and Continuous Improvement Engineer to join their high-performing distribution operations team. This role is essential in driving both system optimization and process excellence within the supply chain environment. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining critical systems infrastructure, supporting warehouse operations, and leading Lean-based continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, accuracy, and throughput.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering in Distribution:

Design, analyze, and optimize operational systems supporting warehouse functions such as inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping.

Map and model distribution processes to identify inefficiencies and system interdependencies.

Implement process logic and system configurations aligned with modern distribution strategies (e.g., wave picking, cross-docking).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable systems that support fluctuating demand and product complexity.

Utilize simulation tools and data models to forecast system performance and inform strategic changes.

Automate workflows and minimize manual interventions to enhance system efficiency.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

Lead Lean and Six Sigma projects aimed at improving KPIs including pick rate, order accuracy, and on-time shipments.

Conduct root cause analyses, time studies, and value stream mapping to identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste.

Facilitate Kaizen events to improve warehouse layout, labor efficiency, and material flow.

Develop and monitor KPIs to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Partner with safety and quality teams to implement improvements that support compliance and workplace safety.

Drive year-over-year productivity gains and cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or related discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a distribution, warehouse, or logistics setting with a focus on systems and process improvements.

Strong working knowledge of WMS/TMS platforms such as Manhattan, SAP EWM, or Blue Yonder.

Familiar with ERP system integration and data-driven decision-making.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) preferred.

Proficient in Excel, Power BI, and SQL for data analysis.

Strong interpersonal and project management skills; able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

Willingness to work hands-on in the warehouse to gather insights and implement improvements.

Experience with warehouse automation technologies (e.g., AS/RS, conveyor systems, pick-to-light).

Understanding of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety standards.
