As they continue to grow, they are seeking a proven leader to manage and elevate their underground utilities operations.


About the Position

The Utilities Division Manager will lead the strategic and operational direction of the utility division, overseeing the execution of private, commercial, and public projects involving underground utility systems—including water, sewer, and storm drainage. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage people, processes, and projects, while also handling P&L responsibilities and representing the company with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of multiple underground utility projects

  • Provide strong leadership to crews, subcontractors, and project managers across the division

  • Ensure project execution meets safety, quality, regulatory, and performance standards

  • Manage client communication and regulatory coordination

  • Lead internal project meetings and cross-functional collaboration

  • Monitor materials procurement, delivery schedules, and subcontractor performance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable construction laws, regulations, and permitting

  • Review contracts, invoices, and change orders for accuracy and cost control

  • Conduct project closeouts and post-job reviews

  • Manage utilization of labor, fleet, tools, and division-wide assets

  • Lead division training and mentorship initiatives


Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project management for heavy civil construction, with a focus on underground utilities

  • Proven field experience in the installation and supervision of pipelines, water, sewer, and storm systems

  • Experience managing P&L and full division operations

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, contracts, specs, and local/state regulations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to effectively multitask and manage numerous active projects

  • Experience with cost and schedule control, estimating, resource planning, and permitting

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative leadership team
