About the Position:

Reporting to a Project Manager and the Operations Manager, a General Superintendent will be responsible for successfully managing new construction and maintenance by completing projects on time and under budget.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
  • Plan and organize crew member activities.
  • Monitor the schedule by regularly reviewing milestones and providing consistent solutions to a wide variety of challenges on multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Communicate and collaborate with project management team for schedule changes.
  • Provide oversight to the work planning process including upcoming machinery needs and personnel requirements. Order material and tools as needed.
  • In conjunction with the PM Team, review work schedules, provide solutions for potential time delays, and implement strategies to meet milestones on time.
  • Monitor work production and budget continuously while providing solutions to keep costs down and construction activities moving in the right direction.
  • Interact with outside consultants, customers, and subcontractors by sharing relevant information in an effective, professional manner.
  • Enforce company standards related to work ethics, safety, quality, service, and other company policies within the work group.
  • Supervise, manage, and direct the hiring, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel field personnel.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Project Manager or Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ previous experience as a heavy civil construction superintendent or in a similar role
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate via verbal and written communications
  • Moderate level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and HCSS
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
