About the Position:

Our client is actively and urgently seeking a Superintendent to lead and manage field operations for heavy civil construction project in San Jose, with the primary focus of relocating and installing underground sewer and storm drain pipes and utilities, including pump stations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can efficiently coordinate labor, equipment, and materials while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The position is an URGENT need, as no Superintendent is in place. A direct path towards the Senior/Lead Superintendent for the company’s office nearby this project is real potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Leadership: Direct and supervise crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop, manage, and adjust construction schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring all site activities comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Quality Control: Oversee workmanship and materials to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve field issues to minimize delays and cost overruns.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate daily reports, job logs, and progress updates.
  • Equipment & Resource Management: Coordinate labor and equipment to optimize productivity and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 10+ years in heavy civil construction, with experience managing field operations for highways, bridges, pipelines, and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate construction crews.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Quick decision-making and problem-resolution skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and reporting systems.
