About the Position

As the Trucking Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound trucking operations, ensuring the efficient and timely processing of customer orders. You will play a key role in coordinating transportation logistics, managing relationships with internal and external customers, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Additionally, you will lead and manage a team of drivers and support staff, while continuously improving transportation processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in operations leadership, process optimization, and team management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound operations, including raw material delivery, heavy haul, and flat-bed delivery.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Maximize asset performance by analyzing route efficiencies and optimizing revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitor transportation performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on transportation performance for management.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to ensure seamless transportation operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Collaborate with departments like inbound, inventory control, and customer service to streamline operations.
  • Communicate with sales and business development teams to promote and grow the business unit.
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues related to inbound/outbound operations.
  • Manage labor, equipment, and supply budgets for outbound operations.
  • Optimize resource allocation for cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational performance, budget adherence, and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution center operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proven experience leading a large, diverse workforce in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Truck Master logistics software and other related technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to drive safety initiatives and continuous improvement using Lean methodologies.
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
