Regional Engineering Business Development Manager

Milwaukee WI

$120,000 - $150,000

About the Company

The company is a manufacturing company specializing in the design and production of engineered fire-rated HVAC and A2L refrigerant systems. Their groundbreaking products provide essential life safety advantages in the construction industry.

About the Position

The Regional Business Development Manager (RBDM) will play a critical role in educating and influencing key stakeholders during the early design and planning phases of construction projects. This role is focused on shaping the market, securing specification wins, and positioning the company's products to be included in the Basis of Design (BOD) for major projects.

The RBDM will primarily engage with architects, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), leading technical education efforts and building long-term relationships to ensure our products are considered in project specifications. This role is pivotal in making sales closable by driving the specification process, supporting submittal approvals, and ensuring that the products specified in the design stage remain part of the project through construction.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Sales, Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering teams, providing valuable technical insights and feedback on market signals and specification challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Relationship Development: Initiate and develop strong, long-term relationships with architects, engineers, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) in your region.

  • Educational Leadership: Lead technical education efforts, including Lunch & Learns, webinars, and follow-up engagements to educate stakeholders on evolving building codes and Conquest’s product solutions.

  • Specification Leadership: Drive the inclusion of Conquest products in the Basis of Design (BOD) for project specifications, ensuring products are specified and included in project documents.

  • Submittal Support: Assist in the submittal approval process to ensure that specified products are retained through the construction phase.

  • Strategic Tracking: Use CRM and internal systems to track engagement, influence, and outcomes, maintaining visibility on strategic initiatives and key results.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth transitions from design-phase influence to construction-phase execution.

  • Technical Advisory: Serve as a key technical advisor internally and externally, providing insights into market trends, specification obstacles, and product adaptations.

Requirements

  • Education: A 4-year degree is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field. PE, EIT, CFPS, or related certifications are a plus. Fire Protection expertise is highly desirable.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience engaging directly with design professionals or navigating the construction specification process.

    • Strong technical background and familiarity with HVAC systems, mechanical systems, fire protection systems, firestop or architectural assemblies, and/or VRF systems.

    • Proven track record of influencing technical decisions and establishing long-term relationships within the building construction ecosystem.

    • Experience in navigating the complex construction specification process and understanding the needs and requirements of design professionals.
