About the Position:

The company is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead and manage multiple heavy civil projects or mega projects based in Norfolk, VA. This is a critical leadership role that involves overseeing the successful execution of large, complex projects from start to finish. The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for managing schedules, coordinating with internal and external teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and driving project performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work across multiple projects or mega projects, ensuring compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs, and schedules; review and update schedules based on project feedback.
  • Oversee job setup activities, working with crews, engineers, and utility companies to identify hazardous areas.
  • Present production work plans during initial meetings to align project crews and leaders.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure proper equipment and material quantities within budget and schedule.
  • Forecast work schedules, identify potential issues, and provide technical or scheduling recommendations.
  • Provide technical input to resolve project risks, document daily activities, and promote strict adherence to safety and process controls.

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 15+ years of management experience in construction required.
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred, but not required).
  • Proven experience managing construction activities on a Joint Venture (JV) or mega project.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification (preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects with strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult schedules and project demands while maintaining strict adherence to project safety programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules.
