About the Position

The company is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Equipment Manager to lead their equipment operations and fleet maintenance functions. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing equipment procurement, preventive maintenance, repairs, fleet logistics, and shop/warehouse operations.

The Equipment Manager will supervise a team that includes an Equipment Superintendent, Mechanics, and a Small Tools Coordinator. They will ensure all company equipment is maintained to the highest standards and in compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting field operations across all job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and schedule equipment maintenance and inspections

  • Analyze cost-effectiveness of repairs vs. replacement

  • Oversee equipment procurement, inventory, and disposal

  • Supervise shop operations and provide technical support to mechanics

  • Coordinate small tools and fleet vehicle logistics

  • Ensure compliance with DMV and regulatory requirements

  • Manage GPS tracking and equipment records

  • Maintain preventive maintenance and repair schedules

  • Implement best practices to optimize equipment performance and control costs

  • Provide performance reports and process improvement recommendations to management


Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy or construction equipment management

  • At least 5 years of experience with transportation, heavy equipment sales, or rental operations

  • Prior experience as a Master Mechanic, Equipment Superintendent, or Equipment Manager preferred

  • Experience working with union contractors is a plus

  • Strong understanding of federal and state maintenance compliance

  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with HCSS software products preferred

  • Ability to anticipate equipment and business needs for efficient resource allocation
